Obituary of Thelma May Lyon

LYON, Thelma May (Rees) 1925-2012 After a courageous struggle with illness on November 29, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in her 88th year. Predeceased by her loving husband Hugh. Dearly loved mother of Nelson and his wife Kathrin of Belleville, Deborah and her husband Edward Atkins of Hamilton. Loving grandmother of Troy and his wife Robin, Rhonda and her husband Tom, Katelyn and Angela. Cherished great-grandma of Madison, Justin and Max. Survived by sisters Audrey McMillan and Jessie (Richard) Kinat, and sister-in-law Julie Rees. Predeceased by her parents William and Peggy Rees, brothers Bud and Andy, and her sister Peggy Deneau. Thelma served on the Faith, Food and Fun Committee at the Church of The Redeemer for many years. She was also a long standing member of the Stoney Creek Quilt Guild. She will always be remembered for her creative talents. Friends and family will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, December 3, 2012 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In Thelma’s memory, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Children’s Wish Foundation.
