Obituary of Walter John Long

LONG, Walter John Passed away peacefully, at his residence, surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 29, 2012 in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of 56 years to Joyce. Loving father of Mike and his wife Silvana, Greg and his wife Cathy, Terry and his wife Joanne, Cathy and her husband Jim Brooks. Predeceased by his daughter Bev. Dear grandfather of Brad, Shannon, Courtney, Bev, Kevin, Mark, Chris and Michael. Dear brother of Betty Palmer, Gary Long and Bill Bird (Joan). Predeceased by his sister Marion and brother Bill. Brother-in-law of Bev and John McLachlan. Walter retired after 40 years with Toronto Dominion Bank. He was a founding member of Stoney Creek Warriors Hockey and coached for many years. He was also actively involved with Bereaved Families of Ontario. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. Interment Mountview Gardens Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Parkinson Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
