Obituary of Francis Joseph Barnes

BARNES, Francis Joseph October 23,1930-September 13,2009 Quietly, on a beautiful, late summer afternoon at Queen’s Garden LTC residence, Hamilton; Frank, in his 79th year, entered into eternal peace. Frank was predeceased by his father, Patrick, mother, Sheila, sisters Rita and Pauline, and brothers Jim, Patrick, and Jack. Survived by Edna, his wife of 5l years, children, Allan, Jeanne, Kathryn Damiani (Dante), Jeffrey, and his older sister - Berna (LA, CA.) Devoted grandfather of Megan, Molly and Ozzie. Frank immigrated to Canada in 1954 from Dublin, Ireland, settling in Hamilton. Working at Stelco for 34 years in the Plate and Strip Mill, retiring in 1989. Frank was an active union steward of local 1005 and served on the Health and Safety committee. Respecting Frank’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass to celebrate Frank’s life is scheduled for Friday, September 18, 2009 at 9:30 A.M. at Incarnation of our Blessed Lord Parish, Barton St. E. and Nash Rd. North, Hamilton. The Barnes Family wish to thank all the staff and volunteers of Queen’s Garden who gave Frank all the extra TLC he so deserved, especially in his last days. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to the Lung or Heart and Stroke Associations.
