LEWIS, Frederick George
Born Easter Sunday, April 1, 1923 and returned to the “Sky Pilot” on the 16th of September 2009. Beloved husband of 61 years to the late Joan Weegar. Loved and missed always by his loving children: Robert and Lenora, Paul and Stella, Suzanne and Dave Strang and Joanne and Mark Stirling. “Gramps” to Toby and Erin, Ginny and Doug LeBel, Joel and Michelle, Ashly and Brian Viveiros, Kristi and Sean Caulfield, Matthew and Bobbi and youngest grandchildren Kathryn and Thomas. G.G. Lew to Gavin, Seamus, Addie-Rose, Alexandra, Marina, Rory and one GG will miss. The last Lewis of Niagara St. Predeceased by his parents Harry and Christiana, brothers Herb, Bill and Albert (survived by spouses Mary and Olive) and sisters Kath and Chris Alvaro. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Fred served his country as a Pilot Officer in 43-44 in 431 (Iroquois) SQN Tail gunner at “Croft” Yorkshire, England, the Last of his Halifax Crew. Fred worked at International Harvester for 38 years, but spent most of his life in the business of helping others. There was never any monetary return, but appreciation by many. He will be missed. Special thanks to the CCAC for its speedy help, Ridgeview LTC for its brief but excellent care and to the fabulous nursing attention at the Henderson Hospital. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Fred’s Life will be held at Stoney Creek United Church, King St. and Lake Ave., on Saturday, September 26th at 11:30 a.m. with visitation from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Online condolences may be made at www.donaldvbrown.ca
