Dear June- our sympathies on the loss of Fred. We will never forget meeting both of you on our very first visit to Invercairn Beach. Your kindness and "neighborly" way helped seal the deal- we had to be part of that community and neighbors to you both. Our thoughts are with you.

It is with great sadness that I read of Fred's passing. Mr Leitch was a man whom I sincerely admired both as an educator and a person. He was my first inspector in Sandwich South Township, Essex County and inspired me to further my career as a teacher and later, as a principal. He presented himself as an approachable, level-headed individual, always available to assist a young teacher with whatever problem he was facing. His encouragement and support meant so much to me that I saw Fred as much more than a superintendant and more like a mentor.
Please accept our sincere condolences.

Dear June & family.
I am not sure where to begin with my memories of Fred & your family. As a young child I remember our Sunday trips to Essex, which seemed like a long ride from Windsor, to have a scumptous dinner with the Leitch family. Fred & June definitely knew how to be a great host & hostess. I also shared a special bond with Jon & Sue since we are almost the same age.
One of my most memorable remembrances of Fred was when I was a young new teacher & I had the privileged fo him coming into my classroom to "inspect" my teaching skills. What a fair & gentle man he was & he did give me a good report & it had nothing to do with nepotism.
Fred will be missed by many people. He touched so many lives throughout his 94 years.
Please know that my thoughts & prayers will be with all of you in the next few weeks & months to come.
Love,
Mary Elizabeth

Our sincere sympathies to June, their children & grandchildren on the passing of Fred, a wonderful husband, father & grandfather & outstanding human being.
I had the priviledge of working for Fred under the ECBE when the board offices were located outside Cottam. We were also fortunate enough to be neighbours, living a block down the street from Fred & June. They were experts at hospitality! A few times the secretaries would be invited back to the Leitch's for 'a cold one'. (all the neighbours on their block of Iler Street--Renaud's, Heinz's, Cascadden's, Linton's, were very sad to see them move from Essex)
My husband Clark remembered Fred's extensive stamp collection, I recalled how knowledgeable he was about all the stamps! We both know Fred & June made numerous friends, no matter where they lived or travelled. One always just wanted to spend more time with them. I distinctly remember how Fred treated everyone equally and with great respect, no matter who they were or what they did for a living.
Our loss is heaven's gain!

To the Leitch family --
Fred was the Superintendent when our children started school, and when Edwin Woodbridge was on the school board for the little one room school -- S. S. #1, Colchester South Township, near Harrow, (-- Essex County.)
Edwin passed away last year, but this message is to recognize the contribution Fred made to our educational scene of that day and I know Edwin had very good memories of that relationship.
Thank you for all that he meant to us.

June and family, our sympathies or with all of you at the loss of Fred. What a full and wonderful life he lived. I can only think of the thousands of lives he touched and who are better because of him. That certainly was true of me and my family. A trip to Essex was ALWAYS a special. It was especially fun because of the spirit of Fred and the mind puzzles that he always had for we kids to figure out.
My first memory was as a 5 year old having the beautiful bride, June, and handsome groom, Fred, stop by our house to say hello while on their honeymoon. That's when you folks became so special to me - it's one of my very earliest memories that I still cherish. Even then Fred had that way of making a little kid feel very special.
We keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers during this time of loss and mourning.

To June and family,
As Fred's caregiver for nearly five years I am mouring with you the loss of a wonderful husband, father and friend. Each visit to his house always amazed me, him sitting at his desk on his computer at the age of ninety, I didn't see that very often. His crafts, crosswords..he would ask me the question but he already had the answer, his card days and nights..his badge that he liked to wear to tease his card group..LUCKY OLD FRED, his wardrobe, a matching set and many of them..for all seasons.
Fred never said a bad word about anyone, very kind and considerate to all, a true gentleman.
June , Fred and I had a few outings that I will remember a life time. I will never forget him.
June and family when you look to the sky..see the brightest star..thats Fred shining down.
Sharing your sorrow and loss.

My first memory of my cousin Fred is this handsome man in uniform arriving at our house in Windsor with his new bride. I was about 6years old. June will not forget that visit as Aunt Elsie put a fluffy duck in her slipper and June did put her foot in the slipper and yelled. Growing up the dinners in Essex were always special with your family and you were the Leitch's to meet my boyfriend George. Oct 8th is our 49th anniversary and we will both be thinking of all of you.
Our Prayers are with you Love Kay & George
