Obituary of Robert Malcolm Laurie

LAURIE, Robert Malcolm Born May 6, 1937, passed away January 23, 2010 Bob passed into glory in his 73rd year on January 23, 2010. He went peacefully with his loving family at his side, at the West Lincoln Hospital. Bob will be greatly missed by his loving wife Marlene (Beckett) of fifty-one years, children; Donna and her husband David (Toldy), David and his wife Jennifer, Lynn and her husband Brent (Thomas). Bob had eleven cherished grandchildren, Jonathan, Candice, Heather, Spencer, Shannon, Sean, Katherine, Kelly, Graeme, Ethan and Malcolm. He is survived by his dear mother Mary Laurie and brothers Allan, Thomas Jr. and his wife Nancy, brother-in-law Lyle (Beckett) and wife Ruth-Ann. He was predeceased by his father Thomas and his daughter Janice (Austin). He is also loved by extended family and friends. He will be remembered by his family for his sound values, courage and strength. He fought courageously in his illness with prostate cancer. He looked forward to spending time at Mary Lake in Muskoka each summer with his family and enjoyed music and caring for others. His faith in his heavenly Father was most important to him and he served the Lord in many capacities through various ecumenical communities. Most recently he attended and served at Calvary Gospel in Beamsville. He had a rewarding thirty-six year career at Proctor and Gamble in Hamilton. The family would like to thank the staff at the West Lincoln Hospital, Dr. Sebastian Hotte, Robyn Snelling, and Dr. David Ludwin for their tremendous care. Visitation will be Thursday, January 28, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Calvary Gospel Church, 4129 Hixon Street in Beamsville, Ontario. A service in celebration of Bob’s life will take place on Friday, January 29, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Calvary Gospel Church. Special thanks to Pastor Win Bowman and Rev.
