Obituary of Geertruida Cornelia Halman

Our beloved Geertruida Cornelia Halman (nee Petschy) passed on March 14, at the age of 102, at Albright Manor (1921-2024). Born in Holland, she immigrated to Canada with her husband, to raise her family. Geertruida is predeceased by her husband Herman Martinus Halman, her parents, siblings and many friends.

She loved to bake Dutch treats and cook traditional meals especially for family, friends and church. Oma also knitted and crocheted for her grandchildren and their dolls. She enjoyed playing games of euchre, cribbage and rummoli.

Geertrudia is lovingly remembered by her three children, six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. The family gives thanks to the care she received by the staff at Albright Manor.

Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Friday, March 22nd from 12:30 p.m. until the Funeral Service in the Funeral Home Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Interment Mountview Gardens. A private reception will follow.
