Obituary of Richard John Sauvé

Richard John Sauvé of Stoney Creek, Ontario, left this world peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at the age of 82. He was a resident of Sudbury until 1983 and resided in Stoney Creek for the last 41 years.

Lovingly known as Rick, he was born to Léo and Grace Sauvé on May 18th, 1941 in Sudbury, Ontario. At a very young age he entered the teaching profession after Graduating from Laurentian University with numerous honours in Français and Latin. He enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a skilled and dedicated teacher where his positive impact on countless students and peers formed a teaching legacy that is fondly remembered to this day.

Richard was a very gifted individual with an unbelievable ability to excel at anything he had a passion for- skilled artist, talented hockey player, accomplished musician and consummate entertainer…yet of all the titles that Rick held in his lifetime, his most treasured were that of “Father/Grandfather/Great-Grandfather".

Beloved husband of Lucille (nee Boucher/predeceased), dear father of Grant and his wife Colleen, Léanne and her husband Frank Scornaienchi and John and his husband Steve Picyk. Loving grandfather of Talisha (Hugo), Anthony (Rachel), Brawne, Dane, Bréanne, Brock (Kendra), Reid and Gage, and precious great-grandfather of Isla and Alaya. Cherished brother of the late Norman (Millie) and Maurice. Dear son-in-law of Erma and Irving Boucher (predeceased) and dear brother-in-law of Ellis Marshall (predeceased), Joyce and Ray Ihamaki (predeceased), Maurice (predeceased) and Margaret Boucher, Réal and Sharron Boucher, Raymond and Yvonne Boucher, Estelle and Ron Violette, Lawrence (predeceased) and Nancy Boucher and Lloyd Boucher (predeceased).

Richard will also be missed by his numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Richard’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the wonderful staff at the Regina Gardens Long Term Care Residence who kept such kind and loving care of him in the final years of his life.

Family and friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 2, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, 934 Hwy 8, Stoney Creek. Interment to follow at Mountview Gardens Cemetery, 735 Highway #8, Stoney Creek.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lewy Body Dementia Association  would be greatly appreciated.
