Obituary of Ronald David Wessel

It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and Papa, Ronald David Wessel on December 29, 2023, in his 87th year.

Devoted husband to Young Kim Wessel for 24 years and proud father of Karen Fernandes (Tony), Jamie Wessel (Suzanne), Junny Shim (Marcelo) and Lisa Kim (Ritesh).

He will be missed by his much-adored grandchildren Ryan, Kristen, Justin (Rebecca), Hayley (Alex), Jordan (Mitch), Melina, Madelyn, Jun and Tae Sun and by his great grandchildren Nixon and Jax. Ron was predeceased by his dear first wife, Audrey Wessel (nee Williams) and by his parents, Jessie and Wesley Wessel, in-laws, Frank and Jean Williams, his sister Joan, brothers Jack and Robert and his brother-in-law, Robert Williams. He is survived and sorely missed by his brothers, Edward, Donald and David, sister-in-law Kathy (Dino) Castellani and Ann Williams. His humility, generosity and sense of humour will be missed by all, including his many nieces, nephews and friends.

Ron was a devout Christian and was a member and past Elder, of Cheyne Presbyterian Church for over 60 years. He was a steamfitter by trade and a past member of the Ionic Lodge no. 549. He loved travelling, ballroom dancing with Young, baseball, hockey and being surrounded by family and friends. Ron saw the best in everyone, loved to make people laugh and lived every day with a smile on his face.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 5, 2023, at Cheyne Presbyterian Church, 7 King Street west, Stoney Creek at 12 p.m., to be followed by the service at 1 p.m. Interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 700 Chapel Hill Road, Stoney Creek.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, would be greatly appreciated by his family. Online condolences and notes of sympathy may be left at www.donaldvbrown.ca
