Obituary of Ian Fredrick Kinder

KINDER, Ian

My loving husband Ian Kinder passed away July 23, 2017 while we were in Newfoundland enjoying our shared passion of scuba diving. He will be missed by all his friends who loved his company, our local scuba diving community and the world of Empress-philes out there that shared his passion for the history of the Empress of Ireland.  But most of all he will be missed by me, his wife – Penny Vermeulen.  The day my best friend and soul mate went to the other side of the rainbow to wait for me.  This day started sunny and bright but very windy out on the waters of Conception Bay.  We were full of excitement gearing up for our first dive in the chilly waters off Newfoundland.  However, it was not meant to be, as Ian was taken from me before we even submerged.  I returned to that wreck later in the week to complete the dive we started and as I came back to the surface after a very peaceful dive, there was a wonderful white glow of light coming from the wreck below – Ian saying good bye until I see him again on the other side of the rainbow.  Ian is predeceased by his parents Harold and Alice Kinder, he is recently retired from Arcelor Mittal.  Ian is the author of “A Tale of Two Sisters” and “The 96th Voyage – the Truth About the Empress of Ireland Tragedy”. Friends will be received at Donald V Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Thursday, August 3, 2017 from 6 to 9 p.m.  Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, August 4, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Hamilton SPCA or the Alzheimer’s Society in Ian’s name.  Notes of sympathy and condolence may be made at www.donaldvbrown.ca
