Obituary of Edith Kathleen Smith

SMITH, Edith Kathleen “Kay” Gone to be with her Lord and Saviour, in her 95th year, Kay passed away peacefully at Juravinski Hospital, Hamilton on Saturday, April 8, 2017. Predeceased by the love of her life and husband of 50 years Earl Dean Smith. Dearest mother of daughter Barbara (Ron) Nelson, son Derrell (Debbie) Smith and predeceased by daughter Tina. Loving grandmother of Stephen (Lynn), Miranda, Matthew (Debbie), Melanie, Allison (Steve), Sarah and Beth (Alex). Predeceased by grandson Stacey. Great-grandmother to Madison, Jacob, Tarryn and Taylor. Kay is predeceased by her parents William and Edith and brothers Andrew (Lil) and Stanley (Eva) and is survived by many nieces and nephews. Kay was known for her outgoing personality, sharp wit, infectious smile, ability to brighten the day of all she met and for her love of bridge and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Thank you for the compassionate care provided by Dr. Hunt and Dr. Cheung and the staff at Juravinski Hospital. The family will receive friends at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Cheyne Presbyterian Church, 7 King St. W., Stoney Creek on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Woodland Cemetery. Donations in Kay’s memory to Cheyne Presbyterian Church, World Vision or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
