Obituary of Paul Daniel Henry

HENRY, Paul Daniel It is with saddened hearts that the family announces the passing of Paul Daniel Henry on Thursday, November 19, 2015, in his 98th year. He was a wonderful husband to Doreen for over 71 years, a cherished father to his son David (Brenda) and his son Craig who lovingly cared for him during a long battle with Parkinson's disease and other health issues. He will be sadly missed by his granddaughters, Jill and Kylie, who loved him dearly and always enjoyed his wonderful company and sense of humour. He was predeceased by his siblings Charles (Nelia), Jack (Rena), and Betty (Vince) of Parry Sound. He will also be missed by his brother-in-law Ross Williams (Ivy). He is survived by his nephews Michael Henry (Judy, deceased), Tim Dunn of Parry Sound, Michael Williams (Laina) and Steven Williams (Colleen) and their families, as well as by nieces Andrena Kowaleski (Bob) and Kathy and her husband, in addition to several great-nieces and nephews. He always loved and excelled at many sports, setting records in long distance running that were held for many years. Always putting his family first, he delayed playing golf until later in life. Once again, he excelled, winning his club championship and scoring two-holes-in-one in the same game. Paul greatly enjoyed his golf days with cousins Irving and Gordon Cochrane, who took him well into his late 80's and early 90's for a day of his favourite game. During World War II, he served his country in the RCAF. He was a respected member of the construction industry, and as a coordinator for the Ontario Government, he was involved in many landmark projects throughout southern Ontario, including Mohawk College in Hamilton, which he guided from the time the first shovel hit the ground until its completion three years later. The family wishes to thank Dr. Mark Grafham for the excellent care Paul received and the Canadian Care Access Centre for the services provided by CBI and Bayshore Nursing. A special thank you to Sharon for helping the family through Paul's long illness and Millie for her caring and kindness. The family also is thankful for the kindness and friendship of all their wonderful neighbours. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. with Visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m. at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek. If desired, memorial donations can be made to a charity of your choice and would be appreciated by the family.
