Obituary of William H. Norman

Peacefully, at the Hamilton General Hospital, on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at the age of 93. Beloved husband of Rose (Evers). Father of Christopher, Deborah (Paul), Jennifer Jacobs (Gregg), Adrian Gordyn, Randy Gordyn, Stacey Lanza (Mark). Grandfather of Rachelle (John), Brett (Aneta), Sarah (Andrew), Joshua (Josie), Katie (Dave), Jennifer, Lesley (Todd), Stephen, Lindsay (Trevor), Matthew (Dana), Vivian (Dave), Shawna, Shayna, Alex, Miranda, and Michael. Great-Grandfather of Paige, Liam, Lucas, Jayda, Jasmin, Austin, Nolan, Logan, Sophie, Malekai. Also missed by his second family (Evers), mother Jackie Ames, sisters Kathy MacLean (Bob), Jo MacLean (John), Gerrie Burnett, brothers Tony (Denise), Mike (Kathy), and Joseph. Fondly remembered by Diane Norman and his many nieces and nephews for his kind nature. Predeceased by father Philip, mother Rose, son Roger, wife Delia, sister Dorothy, brother-in-law Lee, Great-Granddaughter Victoria, and father-in-law Bill. Born and raised in Toronto. World War II Veteran Sept. 1939 – Aug. 1945 serving in England, Holland and Germany as Dispatch Rider with R.C.C. Signals. Continued with Reserves and Cadets. Commissioned as Lieutenant in 1974. Member of Royal Canadian Legion, O.P.P. Veterans Association, Honourable Life Member of the Canadian Credit Institute and the Hamilton Stamp Club. Member of Boy Scouts Canada, King Scout, Gilwell Leader, Port Dalhousie, Sea Scouts, Member of Port Dalhousie Council, O.P.P. Auxiliary Inspector (retired). 30 years Credit Manager – Anthes Imperial, Hoover and Westburn. Past President of the Hamilton Chapter of the Canadian Credit Institute. Past National President and Dean of the Canadian Credit Institute. In retirement he was a bus driver at McMaster University – 5 yrs; owner of TNT Distributing – 20 years. Will be dearly missed by his Tim Horton friends. Thank you to all the nurses at the Hamilton General Hospital for all their great care. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Thursday from 5-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, May 23, 2014 at 1 p.m. Interment to follow at Mountview Gardens Cemetery.
