Obituary of Joseph George Badeau

Passed away peacefully on May 9, 2014 in his 86th year. Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Anne Badeau (McFadden) and his sister Bernice (Leo Dwyer). Survived by Margaret (Murdoch), the love of his life for over 60 years. Devoted father to Brad (Kathy) of Toronto, Maryanne (Gordon Henderson) of Mississauga, Susan (Jim MacDonald) of Barrie and Cathie of Mississauga. Joseph loved and was very proud of Michael, Matthew and Andrew Badeau, Laura Henderson (Matt Gnyp) and Brett Henderson and Sarah, Rebecca and Christopher MacDonald, his eight grandchildren. He will be missed by his brothers-in-law Charlie Coughlan (the late Virginia) and Jim Murdoch (Carol) and many nieces and nephews. Joseph led a very simple and humble life. Growing up through the Depression, he believed in hard work and never let adversity slow him down. After a very successful 42 year sales career at General Electric, Joseph settled into retirement and pursed his passion for woodworking. Joseph enjoyed his garden and took very good care of his home that he shared with Margaret for over 50 years. Joseph enjoyed all of his neighbourhood gatherings and the family extends thanks for their wonderful friendship and help. Joseph and Margaret were parishioners of St. Francis Xavier Parish for nearly 60 years where Joseph was one of the first lectors. Joseph loved spending time with his family and looked forward to every get together, especially at Christmas time. He really enjoyed his time fishing and relaxing at the cottage. He was very proud of all of his children and grandchildren and all of their accomplishments. You will be missed Grandpa! The family will receive friends at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Monday, May 12th from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Prayer Vigil at 4:45 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church, 304 Hwy 8, Stoney Creek at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2014. Interment at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Good Shepherd or the L’Arche Canada Foundation. Online condolences may be made at www.donaldvbrown.ca
