It is with great sadness that we announce, in her 77th year, the peaceful passing of Josephine Zwolak (Simons) with family by her side on April 11, 2024.

Loving wife and soulmate for 55 years to Frank. Dearest mom of Laurie (Barry), Jennifer (Mark), Robbie (Cindy), Katie (Nick), and Michael (Katie). Cherished Oma to Zoey, Megan, Simon, Noah, Owen, Julia, Cameron, Oliver, Adam, Jack, Jamie, Samuel, Miles, and Benjamin.

Beloved sister to Mary (Rudy), Ineke (Otto) and Frank, and sister-in-law to Stephanie. Adored aunt to her nieces and nephews. Josie was a close friend to many whom she met through teaching in the HWCDSB and through her longtime connection to Incarnation Parish.

Jo showed strength and courage battling life’s challenges and remained the rock on which her family depended. She was a devoted wife, mother and Oma who treasured family gatherings where she was surrounded by those who loved her with all of their hearts. The memories that were made through these gatherings will be what is now treasured most.

Sincere gratitude to Father Charlie and Father Joseph for their friendship and spiritual guidance. Heartfelt thanks to all those who have provided comfort and support over the years, especially Maria. A special thank you to the ICU staff at the Hamilton General Hospital for their care and compassion.

The family will receive friends at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 from 3-8 p.m, with Vigil Prayers held at 6:30 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Mountview Gardens Cemetery Stoney Creek. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the CNIB or Breast Cancer Canada.
