THOMAS, Moree Isabell - Peacefully at Hamilton General Hospital on Sunday, September 20, 2015. Beloved mother of Helen Thomas (Phil Austin), of Burlington. Predeceased by her husband Ross and brothers Elwood, Russell and Gordon McArthur. Fondly remembered by Sean and Sue Merritt. Nanna Moree to Philip, Lori, Lucas, Olivia, Courtney, Cally (Sean Dixon), and Brad Merritt. Dear friend of Marie Barry. Born in Collingwood Twp., Moree was a school teacher for 36 years, and an active member of the Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies, serving as Homecraft President in 1995-1996. Moree and family have shown Road Horses and Hackneys throughout Ontario for over 50 years. She held the office of Secretary, Treasurer and President of the Canadian Road Horse Association at various times, and was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 2004. She will be sadly missed by her many friends within the show horse community, neighbours throughout the Smithville area and many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Liz Travis. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 1 p.m. Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
