Craig Henry Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we share the peaceful passing of Craig Charles Henry on Friday, September 4, 2026.

Craig is survived by his loving brother, David (Brenda); dear nieces, Jill (Jason) and Kylie (Paul); Aunt Ivy; many cousins; and a large circle of cherished friends.

Born in Hamilton on April 16, 1953, Craig was the son of Paul and Doreen (Williams) Henry. He remembered an idyllic childhood, surrounded by family, friends, and love. He graduated from McMaster University in 1976 and soon began a career in the laboratory at Stelco, where he worked for 50 years.

Craig excelled in sports and was always happiest pursuing an active outdoor life. Known affectionately to many as Craig “Skeg” Henry, he was an enthusiastic windsurfer and competed in windsurfing competitions throughout Canada and the United States. In winter, he was an avid skier and volunteered with the ski patrol. With the help of his dad, he also built and sailed his own ice boat. In summer, he enjoyed cycling and logged countless kilometers. He loved birdwatching and was remarkably knowledgeable about the natural world.

Another of Craig’s passions was restoring, maintaining, and researching automobiles, particularly VW vans and Porsches. He was always happy to share his expertise with others.

Craig will be remembered for his kind, warm-hearted and gentle nature. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by those who knew and loved him.

The family would like to thank the Juravinski Cancer Centre for its support during Craig’s treatment, as well as the staff on 3C, who provided incredible care and kindness during his final days.

Craig was surrounded by a family of friends too numerous to mention here. Our gratitude for their love, friendship, and caring support is immeasurable.

Cremation has taken place. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 2 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Reception to follow at The Powerhouse, 21 Jones Street, Stoney Creek, ON, from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Donations in Craig’s memory may be made to the Juravinski Cancer Centre or to a charity of your choice.
