It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joanne Hopkins (née Verwey), who passed away on September 2, 2026, in Hamilton, Ontario, at the age of 67.

Joanne was born on January 22, 1959, in Toronto, Ontario. Throughout her life, she was known for her dedication to her family, her career, and the people who were fortunate enough to know her.

Joanne enjoyed a long and successful career with the Bank of Montreal, where she worked for more than 30 years. Over those many years, she formed lasting relationships with colleagues and demonstrated the dedication and commitment that were so much a part of who she was.

Joanne leaves behind her loving husband, Rodney Hopkins, who will deeply miss the life and memories they shared together.

She is also lovingly remembered by her brother, Wil Verwey and Christine; her nieces, Lexxeigh and Corinne; her nephew, Michael; and her great-nieces, Anika and Hazel, as well as her extended family and friends.

Joanne’s passing leaves an emptiness in the hearts of those who loved her, but the memories created throughout her life will remain with her family and friends. She will be remembered with love and deeply missed.

A Celebration of Life for Joanne will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 1052 Golf Club Road, Hannon, Ontario.
