We are devastated to announce that after a lengthy battle with cancer, Jeffery (Jeff), in his 65th year, passed away peacefully at home in Grimsby, on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, surrounded by love and family. Treasured husband of Irene Weir (Hanc) of 37 years. Loving father of Chelsea and her husband Cam Wielhouwer, Jeffery Weir and Matt Haass. Cherished Oca (grandfather) of Cameron and Mila. Will also be lovingly remembered by his mother Sue, his siblings Brian and his wife Janice, John (late Twyla), and Tracey, and Irene’s sister Rose. He will also be missed by his nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Jeff was predeceased by his father John Weir, and in-laws, Joseph and Olga Hanc. Jeff was a dedicated, and loving husband, father, and Oca.

He had the opportunity to enjoy many trips around the world with his wife, and wonderful holidays with the kids too. He enjoyed spending time at the cottage with family and friends, and spending days catching fish on the lake. A true sportsman, Jeff was an avid golfer and enjoyed many rounds of golf with his buddies and family. He was a genuinely kind soul that made all people feel welcomed and respected. Jeff touched many lives and he will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him. 

Family and friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Friday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Rosary at 2 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 5 at 10 a.m. at St. Gregory The Great Slovenian Catholic Church, 125 Centennial Parkway N., Hamilton. Cremation to follow. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Juravinski Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family.
