It is with profound sadness that I announce the peaceful and quiet passing of Ed on August 8th at Albright. He was a devoted and loving husband to Patti for 33 years. Ed was a loving brother to Edwin and Art (Tara), and a loving uncle to Aaron (deceased), Stephanie (Alonso), and Micheala (Brett). He will be deeply missed by Uncle Frank , Aunt Rose, cousins Suzie, Rick (Liz) and Helen. Ed was predeceased by parents Joseph and Barbara and best friend Jim.

He will be deeply missed by brother in law Greg (Ginny), sisters- in-law Kathy (Rudy) and Laurie, and nieces and nephews Shannon (Mike), Kate (Eric),  Michelle (John)  Alex(Tami), Brandon (Kathryn).

Ed was kind, loving, generous, intelligent, thoughtful, and all about family. He enjoyed hosting family picnics, and always stayed in touch with family and friends. Some of the most memorable times were packing up the Ford F150 and heading to Bon Echo for camping adventures. Ed and I spent countless summers in Picton and Cherry Valley, hanging out with family, riding bikes, enjoying beach days at Sandbanks, and drinking Polish beer. Later these places would be the quiet, familiar, and welcoming places for Ed as his health declined.

Ed led an incredibly interesting and full life. He was an F1 fanatic and Datsun Roadster enthusiast, having owned three 1967 Roadsters. He worked at Jerry Hober's Datsun, and then Sterling Honda in Service, where he won multiple Service Awards. Ed became good friends with George, whom he met through Datsun, then again at Sterling Honda.They shared the adrenaline of F1 and the love of Datsun Roadsters. There were many trips to Montreal for F1 weekends. The featured car in 2011 at Watkins Glen for Vintage Car Weekend was Datsun. We took our Red 1967 Datsun Roadster for "Datsun at the Glen". An incredible weekend filled with fellow Datsun enthusiasts and their cars from all over the U.S. and Canada. Ed was in his glory.

He was incredibly proud of his Polish heritage. Our house was full of "Wilno" furniture, some he "house picked" from the Ottawa Valley. He wrote several articles in the "Upper Canadian" expanding on the history of the Polish settlement, and the cabinet makers that settled in the Valley. He had many trips to Poland, especially with his father. Through antiques he met lifelong friends Dan and Kim, and Wayne. The Christie Antique Show was an annual event for Ed. Up at 3a.m., home at 8p.m., delirious from lack of sleep, but with a big smile on his face.  Later, Ed and Dan established a successful business, Team One Home Inspections. 

He was a lifetime member of the American Single Shot Rifle Association. Ed was well respected in the gun collecting world for his knowledge of classic American Single-Shot rifles like Stevens, Ballard, and Sharps. He frequented shooting matches, and was a member of the Western New York Schuetzen Society. He developed lifelong friendships with fellow collectors Paul, John, and Reyn.

Ed was a past member of the Winona Men's Club as the Treasurer, and was involved with the Peach Festival. Near closing time of the Festival, he would walk out into the field and sell any leftover ice cream sandwiches at a discount because he still liked to make a buck.

Ed was able to be comfortable at home for a longer period of time with the help of family and friends. F1 Sundays with his brother, porch visits with best friends Del and Jim during COVID, trips to Picton and the farm, and dinners at my niece's made life easier for us.

Many people watched over Ed when he made the transition to Albright. Thank you to all the family for the visits to Albright, and for helping when I was still able to take Ed out for family get-togethers or simple outings. 

Thank you to long-time friends Fred and Henrietta for the Tuesday visits, and to Frank for his friendship with Ed.

I wish to thank the staff of Albright for caring for Ed with the utmost kindness and respect. A special thank you to Jody for staying with me the day Ed passed.

Ed's wishes were to be cremated and to take his final rest in Bon Echo and Wilno. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to one of these charities: War Amps, Albright Manor, or the Alzheimer's Society.

A celebration of Ed's life is yet to be determined.
