Marlene Nellie Vandehei Obituary

It is with profound sadness that her loving family announces the passing of Marlene Nellie Vandehei, who died suddenly on Thursday, July 30, surrounded by her immediate family and the care of those at the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital. Although she had been courageously facing health challenges in recent months following back surgery and a bout of pneumonia, her passing came unexpectedly and has left our family heartbroken. The suddenness of her loss has been deeply felt by all who knew and loved her.

Above all else, Marlene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend whose love, strength, and generosity was limitless. She will be remembered for her warm smile, dry sense of humour, kindness, resilience, and love of family.

She is dearly missed by her devoted husband, John Martin Vandehei, her daughters, Lisa Vandehei and Kelly Perry; her dear son-in-law, Aaron Perry; and her cherished grandchildren, Jordyn, Leah, and Hannah Perry. She was predeceased by her older sister, Shirley May North. She will also be greatly missed by her brother, Robert Wagner and partner Margaret, brother and sister in law Helmar and Nellie Voigt and dear friends Tom and Berit Ferguson. She will also be missed by many more family and friends.

Visitation will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in the love she gave so freely and in the memories that will remain with us always. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to McNally House Hospice. Although she was never a patient there herself, she was deeply grateful for the exceptional care and compassion shown to her sister, Shirley, and believed in supporting their important work.
