Jim Risidore Obituary
It is with a broken heart that I announce the death of my husband, James "Jim" Kenneth Risidore.
Jim will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 42 years, Sharon. He was predeceased by his sister, Ann (Art Elliott), February 27, 2017. Predeceased also by his parents, Harry and Bess, whom he cared for in his home until her passing. He leaves behind his niece and nephew, Susanne and Michael. Dear friend Sue Scobie, whose unwavering friendship over a lifetime and support has been a tremendous source of strength to Sharon during this difficult time. Sue's kindness, loyalty and presence have meant more than words can express.
Jim will be fondly remembered by friends, extended family and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. His presence is already missed by his beloved dog, Ruby, who was a constant companion and brought him great joy.
Jim began his working life at his father and uncle's steel construction business, Risidore Brothers. When Jim's father, Harry, passed away at the young age of 48, his uncle took over the business and Jim began his career at Dofasco.
When Jim was 10 years old, he began riding and training horses and developed a love for them, fostered by his father. In his first year on the show circuit, Jim placed 3rd at the Royal Winter Fair riding as junior hunt team member. It was an unprecedented win as all three team members were in their first year of riding.
Jim was a man of many talents and passions. He was a member of the Corvette Club, where he enjoyed building and rebuilding vehicles and sharing his passion for cars. He was an avid airplane modeller. He found great fulfillment in woodworking; creating and repairing with remarkable skill. Those who knew him often said he could accomplish anything he set his mind to - a true reflection of his determination and craftsmanship.
Jim and Sharon purchased a home in the country 42 years ago where he had lots of work to do and he loved it. He died in the home he loved with Sharon by his side.
Jim lived exactly the life he wanted to live doing what he enjoyed.
Cremation has taken place and, in keeping with his wishes, no service will be held.
Forever missed. I will love you forever. - Sharon
As an expression of sympathy, donations in Jim's memory would be kindly appreciated and may be made to the De Mazenod Door Outreach, City Kidz or St. Matthews House.
