Stacey Ann Hamilton Battersby-Gera Obituary

It is with profound sadness we announce that on May 11, 2026, Stacey Ann Battersby-Gera of Hamilton, ON in her 48th year, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family after a courageous and inspiring 2½-year battle with breast cancer.

Stacey faced every challenge with remarkable strength, grace, and determination. Even through the hardest moments, she remained a source of love, comfort, and unwavering support to everyone around her. Her resilience touched countless hearts and inspired all who had the privilege of knowing her. Stacey's kindness, warmth, and beautiful spirit created lasting memories that will forever live on in the hearts of those she loved.

To her family, Stacey was everything.

Stacey was predeceased by her beloved father Bill Hamilton, whom she missed dearly. Her grandparents, Jim and Betty Muir and George Hamilton; and her precious dog Sammy.  We take comfort in knowing they are all together again.

She was a devoted and loving Mother to Kate Battersby and adored our puppy, Toby. A cherished Daughter to Ann Hamilton, treasured Granddaughter to Dorothy Hamilton, and adored Daughter-in-law to Chuck and Sharon Gera. She was also a much-loved Sister to Jennifer Hamilton-Burnagiel (Dean Rodney) and Sister-in-law, Rebecca Gera. She will be deeply missed by her loving Husband, Matthew Gera, who considered Stacey the rock and heart of his life.

She was a proud and loving Aunt to Grayson, Emery, Darius, and Hazel, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.  Stacey will also be affectionately remembered by her Great Aunt Jean Hamilton and Great Uncle Gary, as well as by all her Aunts and Uncles; Lori and Lembit Raudnask, Kim Worobel (Mark), Beverly Hamilton, Bruce and Nancy Hamilton, Bob and Gina Hamilton, and Kerry and Paul Losell. She will be greatly missed by all her cousins; Megan Raudnask (Oliver & Charlie), Kyle Raudnask (Kaylynn & Shaye), Shaunna and Justin Mather (Nolin, Jackson & Jordan), Lesley and Matt Hewston (Graham & Fraser), Ian and Laura Hamilton, Brad Hamilton, and Neil Hamilton. Her absence will be deeply felt by extended family, dear friends, colleagues, and all whose lives were touched by her compassion and love.

Stacey’s journey was marked not only by her courage in the face of illness, but by the incredible impact she made throughout her life as an Educational Assistant with the Hamilton Public School Board. She gave so much of herself to others, always leading with kindness, patience, and understanding.  Her legacy is one of love, compassion, resilience, and strength.

Though our hearts are broken beyond words, we are endlessly grateful for the time we shared with Stacey and for the love she gave so freely. She will be missed beyond words and loved always — to the beach and back.

A Celebration of Stacey’s Life will be held on Saturday, June 20th  from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Galileo Gardens, 1223 Highway 8 in Stoney Creek. Family and friends are invited to gather in Stacey’s memory to share stories, laughter, dancing, and the love she brought into the world.  Any donations received will be gifted to the Canadian Autistic Foundation.

Stacey, you will forever be missed and will never be forgotten.
