Elsie Wilson (nee Ormerod) Obituary

Elsie passed away peacefully into the loving arms of her heavenly husband Donald Roy Wilson on Wednesday, April 15th in her 94th year. Elsie leaves behind her sons Donald Carl (Lee) and Joseph Brett (late Helene). Proud Nanny to Heather Wilson (Jake), Alanna Wilson (Adam), and Connor Wilson. Cherished GiGi to Damon James Turl.

A special thank you to Patricia Wilson for her support, loving assistance and care. Elsie is predeceased by her parents Harry and Ada Ormerod and her sister Doreen. Elsie will be greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews, her family, friends and all who came to know her.

Elsie graduated from the St. Joseph’s Nursing Program in 1954. She was the camp Nurse at Camp Canterbury Hills as well was a devoted Cub Scout Leader. Both of which she held for many years. She went back to work at Big Brothers and helped the organization expand in size as well as initiating the addition of Big Sisters to the Association. She eventually became the Executive Director, a title she held for many years.

Elsie was the first woman to receive the Paul Harris Rotary Club Award for Exceptional Community Service. Her faith in the Lord was strong and extremely important to her. Elsie studied and became a Licensed Anglican Lay Reader and finally became an ordained Anglican Deacon. She was honoured to receive the Order of Niagara. Her accomplishments were widely varied and many in nature as only a snippet are mentioned here.
