It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of June Hunt in the late evening of April 16th, 2026. She passed away peacefully after days of being surrounded by the love of family and friends.

Born in Hamilton, ON, to George and Ellen Lester, eventually becoming a proud big sister to Bill (Connie) Lester. June joined the Women’s Royal Canadian Naval Service (Wrens), at HMCS Star in her early years, meeting her husband Carl Hunt (predeceased 1996), during service.

Loving mother to Georgina (Mark) Burns and Sean Hunt. Loving stepmother to Lee (Robyn) Hunt, Robbie Hunt (predeceased), and Carol (Buddy) Murdock. Devoted Grandmother to Brianne (Destinie) Burns, Robbie (Kaisa) Casanas, and Samantha (Andrew) Burns.

June had a long, great career as the postmaster in Carlisle, ON. She loved to collect stamps from all over. June was a devoted Girl Guides and Scouts Canada leader, partaking in Scouts activities alongside her husband Carl. She was an avid reader and loved to explore nature with her family. Heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff at St. Joseph’s Villa for their loving care and attention to June’s needs.

Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 10 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Private family interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
