Norman John Gibbons Obituary
On April 6, 2026, Norman John Gibbons, in his 85th year, was promoted to glory surrounded by his family. He was born on October 16, 1941, to Herbert William and Louisa Lilian Gibbons in Newbury, England. He met his future wife Doreen at Evangelical Free Church where he played the organ and she taught Sunday School. They were married on June 13, 1964, and celebrated 61 years of marriage. They immigrated to Newfoundland, Canada in 1966 and finally settled in Hamilton, Ontario in 1967. They welcomed two children, Janice and Timothy, soon after. Norman worked as an accountant and when he retired, he joined Doreen in volunteering at Galcom International assembling solar powered fix-tuned Christian radios with the Bible that were sent to villages that needed to hear the Good News.
He lived life with a deep love of music. He would play piano and pipe organ in church and later enjoyed the Salvation Army Meadowlands Band on Sundays and their concerts. Later in life he discovered a love for cruising and was able to complete his bucket list cruise of the Panama Canal transit and seeing the sloths. He enjoyed spending time with family and was very proud of his grandchildren and their accomplishments.
Norman is predeceased by his parents, Herbert William and Louisa Lilian Gibbons, his sister Evelyn, and brother Derek. He will be dearly missed by his wife Doreen. Loving Dad of Janice (Mario) and Timothy. Loving Grandpa to Katrina (Bryan), Sabrina (Joshua), Jonathan (Emelia) and Michael. Grandpapa to Lucia, Nolan, Declan, Matteo and Sicilia.
