Greg Klassen Obituary
It is with greatest sadness and broken hearts that we announce the sudden and unexpected loss of our loved and cherished Greg at the age of 52. Greg leaves behind his devoted wife, best friend and love of his life Ana of 31 years, along with their cats, Milo, Loki and Gussy.
Beloved cherished son of Wendy Klassen and Ron Klassen (predeceased). Loved brother of Jennifer (Peter), and dear uncle of Jordan and James.
Greg will always be a very special part of Ana’s side of the family and will forever have a void. Dear son-in-law of Ivan (Kaja Deceased). Dear brother-in-law of Sally, Cathy (Mike…miss you brother), John (Sofie) and Jenna (Angelo). Will also be sadly missed by his nieces Sofia, Daniela, Marina and nephews Leo and Joey.
Greg was loved and will be greatly missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends that admired him and had special relationships with him all around the world (you know who you are).
Greg started his career in HVAC in 2005, with Union Energy/ Reliance Home Comfort, and then his 15 year career with Union Gas/ Enbridge Gas began in 2008 as a Utility Rep, working his way to Compression Station Operator/ Maintenance, and then as a Technical Training Specialist. He loved technology and any machinery/ tools he could get his hands on.
Let’s be blunt, Greg will be remembered for his calm, kind and gentle presence, love of hockey, golf, the great outdoors, reading, many inappropriate t-shirts, which only he could pull off, the incredibly “Useless information he could spew out” (as he said), his library of movie quotes, his unique taste in music, dry sense of humour, specialty gourmet pizza’s, exquisite cooking skills and as a master meat handler, just to name a few. He was so talented, a jack of all trades, willing to learn anything he could that interested him, and always willing to help and give his expertise. Greg was all in – go big or go home. Just knowing Greg was there, you knew you would have a great time. He was a child at heart. He touched so many lives, in ways that no one could describe or imagine.
A heartfelt thank you for the exceptional kindness, support, and fantastic care, but most importantly, the compassion from the Juravinski staff; Physicians; Dr. Dionne, Dr. Hobbs, Dr. Malhotra; Residents and other MDs that assisted: Dr. Haddad, Dr. Lago, Dr. Despot, Dr. Pirani, Dr.Harkinson and Dr Lindo. Also, thank you to other members of the medical team: Suzanne, Kathryn, Mikaela, Sue, Logan, Kylie, Sunny, Brian, Bri, Bailey, Anne, Heather and Alphonse.
At Greg’s request, please do not mourn his departure from this world, but celebrate life. Life is a gift and every day should be cherished, always.
Greg loved bright colours therefore we ask for no black attire during visitation please. Happy memories and respectful wishes are accepted and encouraged.
In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask for donations to be made to The March of Dimes Canada -Hamilton After Stroke Peer Support Group.
Greg was selfless, and an avid advocate for organ and blood donation. At a difficult time, the family is comforted knowing Greg was able to give the gift of life to multiple recipients and science. Please consider in following in his steps by donating your blood and organs to make a difference in the lives of others.
“To my beautiful wife, my dearest love Ana,
I just wanted you to know how much you are loved and how special you are.
You are the sun in my sky.
You light up my day and bring me warmth.
You are the stars in my sky.
You bring me comfort in darkness just knowing you are there.
You are my lighthouse when seas are stormy.
You always bring me home safely.
I love you with all my heart.
Greg Klassen”
