Josephine Novak Obituary
Peacefully at home, with her children by her side, Josephine went to our Lord on Sunday March 22, 2026. Predeceased and reunited with her husband Paul (2016) and son Paul Richard (2015). Loving mother to Peter and Helen (Miran) Spiler, treasured grandmother (mama) to Kristina (Peter) and much-loved great-grandmother (GiGi) to Savannah, Luca and Rocco. Josephine will be missed by her surviving sister Toncka Bogataj of Slovenija and sister-in-law Slavka (late Dusan) Pavlovich. Will also be missed by many nieces and nephews and their families both here and in Slovenija. Predeceased by her 3 brothers and 2 sisters in Slovenija and brother-in-law Frank (late Romana) Novak, and nephew George Pavlovich.
Josephine was a long-standing member of St Gregory the Great Slovenian Parish community and was involved in various committees and organizations and a member of both Slovenian and English choirs as she loved to sing. Most important was her deep devotion to her faith and family. She volunteered with Meals-on-Wheels for many years and made friends with most everyone she met and was always welcoming and ready to give a helping hand.
Friends and family will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Thursday, March 26 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Vigil Prayers at 4 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gregory the Great Slovenian Church, 125 Centennial Pky N, Hamilton, on Friday, March 27 at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery, 681 Mud St E., Stoney Creek.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St Gregory the Great Parish or Good Shepherd Center, Hamilton would be greatly appreciated.
