It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Russell Gorchinsky, on March 10th, 2026, at the age of 93, surrounded by his family. Russell shared 61 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Jane (Howard) Gorchinsky, and for the last 10 years, he was a loving partner to Tina Schaeffer. He was a devoted father to John (late Lynn), David (late Debbie), Patti (Tom), Karen, Rick (Jill), Chris, and Nicole (Brian), each of whom carries forward a part of his quiet strength and wisdom. He was predeceased by his brother Izadore Gorchinsky and sister Natalie Roxburgh.

Russell was a man who loved creating and fixing things. Whether he was shaping a piece of wood into something useful or restoring an old classic car, he took pride in working carefully and patiently until the job was done right. Yet no project meant more to him than the time he spent with his family. He especially treasured moments with his grandchildren, Johnny, LeeAnn, Christine, Kerri, Ricky, Robbie, Katie and his eleven great-grandchildren. Their laughter, stories, and even their lively chaos brought him endless happiness. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.

The family would also like to extend their sincere thanks to the OHAH program for their care and support, and a special thank you to Nurse Jenna for the kindness and compassion shown to our dad. Russell’s legacy lives on not only in the things he built but also in the people he helped shape through his kindness, resilience, and wavering love.  He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A gathering for family  fandriends will be held at Mountview Gardens, 735 Highway 8, Stoney Creek, on Thursday, April 9th at 1 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life.
