Obituary of Hilda Esther Kaulback

Hilda Esther Kaulback, 97, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026, after a short stay at Ridgeview Long Term Care Home. Born in Centreville, Digby County, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Esther (Savary) Hubley and sister to Beatrice, Helen, Leon and Robert and is survived by her brother Willard (Shirley).

Predeceased by the love of her life, Grant Joseph Kaulback (2007) married in 1950, and together they built a life in Hamilton and Stoney Creek. Cherished mother to Richard (Lynne), Brent (Marilyn) and Lynn (Robert) and reunited with her daughter-in- law Dale. Dedicated to her family above all, she was known for her love, honesty, strong opinions and values. She enjoyed family trips ‘down home’, world travels with Grant and cherished the friendships made along the way. She had a lifelong love of reading, and keeping up with current events. She considered the evening news her front‑row seat to history and politics, preferably enjoyed with a little chocolate, ice cream, jube jubes and chips, the secret to her longevity.

She leaves behind her children and their spouses as well as six grandchildren Shailah (Andrew), Ashley, Tristan, Devin (Jasmine), Jamieson (Robyn), Hillary (Silveste) and nine great‑grandchildren with a tenth on the way as well as a large extended family who will carry her memory forward.

Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Monday, March 9, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 1 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation or Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice.
