Obituary of Allen Stephen McChesney

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Allen McChesney on February 6, 2026, at the age of 90. Predeceased by his loving wife Mary, the love of his life, his soulmate. Cherished father of Alan (Jan), the late Steven (Maria), Susan Vaz (Jose), and Sandy Ridge (Robert). Adored grandfather of Christopher, Jason, Natalie, Emily, Lauren and Katie. Predeceased by his parents Alice and Charles and his dearly loved in-laws Isabelle and Louis Billings.  

After a long and successful career at Stelco, Allen spent his summers golfing and his winters curling. An exceptional athlete, he excelled at all sports, but he was proudest of his curling achievements winning both the Hamilton District and Stelco bonspiels. He remained an active member of the Hamilton Victoria Curling Club until his final years. 

Together with Mary they travelled the world making memories that would last a lifetime.  He had a passion for photography and lined his walls with pictures from their travels.  

Always the life of the party, he made life fun especially for his grandchildren. From hours in the pool to weeks at papa camp, nothing was off limits. He attended every concert, sporting event, graduation, and milestone. His family always knew he would be there, sitting proudly in the crowd, beaming with love. 

Thank you for showing us what true love and commitment looks like. You were our protector, our champion, and our loudest cheerleader, you will be missed but we take comfort in knowing that you are reunited with Mary and Steve.

Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Tuesday from 2-5 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, February 11th at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery, Stoney Creek.
