Obituary of Nicola Racaniello
With deep love and sadness, we share the passing of Nicola “Nicky” Racaniello on February 4, 2026, at the age of 52.
Nicky was born in Chicoutimi, Quebec, to Donato and Maria Giuseppa Racaniello, the heart of a large and devoted family. Born with Down syndrome, Nicky navigated the world with a quiet strength and an extraordinary ability to find joy in life’s simplest gifts—a favorite song, a shared meal, and the steady presence of those he loved.
Music was the language Nicky spoke most fluently. He didn’t just listen to songs—he stepped right into them. A completely self‑taught dancer, he could light up any dance floor with ease. Whether he was "busting a move" at a family wedding or surprising everyone with his breakdancing skills, his rhythm and enthusiasm were unforgettable. He sang whenever the moment inspired him, reminding us all to live with that same fearless joy.
Nicky’s happiness was contagious; he had a gentle way of reminding everyone around him what truly matters. He moved through life with courage and warmth, leaving an overwhelming amount of love imprinted on the hearts of all who knew him.
Nicky is survived by his mother, Maria Giuseppa; his sisters, Costanza (Rosario), Modesta (David), Caterina (Francisco), and Mary (Bruce); and his nieces and nephews, Teresa (Sam), Pina (Andrew), Erica (Robbie), Salhma, Dimitri, and Alazandria.
He is predeceased by his beloved father, Donato Racaniello, and many cherished zias, zios, and nonni.
Visitation will be held at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Monday, February 9, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 6:00–8:00 p.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at Incarnation of Our Blessed Lord Parish, 400 Pottruff Road North, Hamilton, Ontario, on Tuesday, February 10, at 11:00 a.m. Nicky will then be laid to rest at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery, 681 Mud Street East, Stoney Creek.
