Obituary of Wilfred 'Wilf' McLaren

Wilfred passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 17, 2026, in his 89th year.  Born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Wilf was raised in and called Paisley, Ontario, home until he left for many adventures that would see him settle in Stoney Creek, Ontario.  He was a devoted husband to the late Patricia, loving father to Heather (John) and Christine and proud grandfather of Zachary.  Wilf was predeceased by his parents, Stewart and Esther, his brothers Jack, Jimmy, Bruce and Glen and his sisters Dorothy and Helen.

He began his career sailing the Great Lakes, leaving as a First Mate in order to spend more time with his family upon the arrival of his first child.  Wilf spent the remainder of his career in the transportation industry, primarily at Direct Winters and Cabano-Kingsway/Motorways Transport.

Wilf was a fixture of his Stoney Creek neighbourhood for over 58 years, always the first to lend a hand, a power tool or advice from his vast construction knowledge.

He will be fondly remembered by his large family in and around Paisley and by friends including Guy Boily and the MacPherson and Walsh families.

Special thank you to Dr. Okawara of the Juravinski Cancer Centre for his longtime care, the kind staff at the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice, and Sam and his team at Kingmount Pharmacy.

As per Wilf's wishes, cremation and a private family service have taken place.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kemp Care Network or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Notes of sympathy and condolence may be left at www.donaldvbrown.ca
