Obituary of Patricia “Pat” Jane Holbrook

nee Botterill

Passed away peacefully comforted by family. Predeceased by her loving parents, Grace and Charles Botterill; and husband Peter. Mum of Shaun and his wife Ginni, Jane and her husband Craig Brown. Grandmother of the late Shaun Jr., Kym Bowman (Travis), Julie Brown (Tyson), Amy Brown, and Kristopher Hoffman. Great-Grandmother of Jaycee, Izzy, Alana, Wyatt, Brin, Emmett and James, Great-Great-Grandmother of CaliAnne. Pat had a special relationship with her family in the UK. She loved and looked forward to emails, letters and special packages sent from across the pond. She leaves behind her loving sister Sally (the late David), nephew Julian, nieces Jemimah, Richeldis, Miranda and their families in England.

Pat also loved spending Christmas and enjoyed other holidays with her “Brown - Pickard family”. She will be missed by her dearest friend and world travel partner Pat Varga and her dance friends the “Honey Buns”. Pat taught for the HWDSB for 30 years teaching special needs children. Shortly before retirement she established Cardiknits Inc. Specializing in machine knitting, wool, workshops, seminars and fashion shows where she met and developed friendships from across the world. Machine knitting became her focus, knitting for family, friends and local charities. When not knitting Pat enjoyed dancing with the Golden Age of Variety. A seniors tap and jazz group performing at Theatre Aquarius and other venues in Ontario. The Village of Wentworth Heights became home to Pat for 8 enjoyable years. Participating in activities, volunteering in the general store, travelling and spending time with the beloved animals in the “Pet shop”. Pat was known for her wild and outrageous leggings, she enjoyed nothing more than showing off her newest and latest pair for her friends and staff at the Village, the brighter the better.

Pat appreciated all of her health care providers. A special thank you to her kind and witty physician Dr. M. Schweitzer and her compassionate P.S.W Julie Raposo. Jane, Julie and Amy are grateful for the last precious days that we could quietly spend with Mum. Thank you to Dr. Soloman and the team at St. Peter’s 3 East, for making this possible.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at St. John’s Anglican Cemetery, Ancaster. At Pat’s request in lieu of flowers, donations to Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides would be appreciated.
