Obituary of Franc Erzar

December 1, 1933 – December 6, 2025

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Franc at the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Grimsby on December 6, 2025, at the age of 92. Beloved husband of Jozica for 57 years. Loving father of Frank Jr., and Natalie (Bob). Proud Ata of Adriana (Jeff), Sebastian, Damian, Ava, Jane, and Luke. He is survived by his sister Marinka, and predeceased by his siblings Anica, Peter, and Nezka. Good friend of Joe and Jozica Groznik and Zorka Rev.

Franc, born in Zgornji Brnik, Slovenia, was a proud and dedicated member of the Local 18 Carpenters Union for over 50 years. As a skilled carpenter, he proudly built the house where he and his family lived and helped build his son's house. He was also an active member of the St. Joseph’s Society at St. Gregory the Great. Franc was an avid stamp collector and bocce player who especially loved playing with his fellow parishioners and attending parish social events, with a special fondness for the memorable trips organized by Jerry Ponikvar.

The family would like to thank the staff at the West Lincoln Hospital for their compassionate care.

Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Wednesday, December 10 from 3-7 p.m. Vigil Prayers at 5 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Gregory the Great Slovenian Church, 125 Centennial Pkwy. N., Hamilton, on Thursday, December 11 at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery, 681 Mud St. E, Stoney Creek. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Gregory the Great Parish would be appreciated.

We love you very much, Ata. Thank you for so many wonderful memories, and we wait until we can see each other again in Heaven.

Rest in peace.
