Obituary of Behic Mahmut

On November 21, Behic Mahmut, street name Jim, passed away. He will be deeply missed, especially at Sunday dinners by his daughter Avril and her husband Mike. Grandpa to Heather (Sam), Lesley and Paul. Great Grandpa to Sonny, Lily, Jacob and Wyatt. He will also be missed by his brother Kemal, his wife Ozden and their family. Predeceased by his wife Fran and his sister Meyrem.

Jim was born in Cyprus and as a young man moved to work in the steel mills in Australia where he met Fran. He took his new family to England, then to Canada. He was a long time employee at both International Harvester / J. I. Case as a very talented fabricator. He and Fran were avid campers and travelled across Canada with their trailer. Jim took great pride in maintaining and beautifying his property. He enjoyed his daily trips to meet his coffee buddies at Eastgate. He was a lifelong fan of the Maple Leafs. He loved his trips to New Zealand where he visited Felton and Lis. He looked forward to phone calls and visits from Shandel and Ayden. Jim lived life to the fullest up until the last three weeks. 

Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Sunday, November 30th 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. Donations in Jim's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
