Obituary of Olga Hanc

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our sweet, beautiful mother on Thursday November 20th in her 88th year.

Beloved and forever devoted wife of Joseph (deceased); adored and cherished mother of Irene and Jeff Weir, Rose and Cris Done-Burcea. Beyond loved Mati of Chelsea (Cam), Jeffery (Matt), Lucas, Tianna (George, Delaney, Kayce).  Adored Mala Mati of Cameron and Mila. Pre-deceased by her parents Joseph and Matilda Stanko. Loving sister of Marica Fras, and pre-deceased brothers Tonc, Ignac, Slavko and Stefan.  Dear aunt to many nieces and nephews in Slovenia. Will be missed by cousins Mirko Zorko (Amalia) and Joe & Majda Stanko and family, as well as sisters-in-law Mary (Rudy-deceased); Agnes & Mate, Sabina & Mirko.

To say that Mum was a beacon of sunshine is an understatement.  Her smile not only lit up her face, it lit up the room.  Her kind and generous spirit will forever be remembered by everyone she touched whether it was through her love of singing at church, anywhere really, or through her generosity of spirit when she prepared plates of homemade baked goods for family and friends or prepared extra Easter baskets for others.  She loved socializing with friends and family and loved a feisty game of Black Queen!  Anyone in her orbit was drawn to her beautiful and kind soul. Her family was her everything.  She was a devoted and loving Mother, Mati and Mala Mati, but also a caring, loyal and trustworthy friend who was loved by all. We will greatly miss her gentle and loving spirit every single day and we will carry her in our hearts forever.  God Bless.  

Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Wednesday, November 26 from 3-7 p.m.  Vigil prayers will be at 3 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Gregory the Great Slovenian Church, 125 Centennial Pky N, Hamilton, on Thursday, November 27 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Cemetery, 681 Mud St E, Stoney Creek. 

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Gregory the Great Slovenian Church, McNally House Hospice in Grimsby or Breast Cancer Canada would be greatly appreciated by the family.
