Steve and I both joined BOHC hockey around 1999. We both spent many years on its “Gold n Grey” tournament team. “Tournament team” does not necessarily mean skilled. Steve eventually convinced me to join the BOSL where I was fortunate enough to be on his & Lloyd’s team for several years. We co-captained a Gold division hockey team for 3 seasons. We spent many late apres-hockey evenings discussing our hockey successes and failures at the Club’s bar. Many summer swims and bbq’s followed over the years with most of Steve’s comments bringing a chuckle or grin to the attendees. Steve was a wonderful person and a great friend. My deepest sympathies to Karin and family. Karen & Don Hunter

I first met Steve over 20 years ago through the BOSL. I had the opportunity to play on his team that he co-captained with Lloyd. We remained friends throughout the years, spent time golfing, playing baseball, and travelled on 2 cruises with him & Karin. I continued to see him socially at Don's yearly Barbeque & swim, where we had a lot of laughs and a little bit of drinking. Steve will be missed. Rest in peace my old friend. Rosalind and I extend our deepest condolences to Karin & the family.

We are deeply saddened at Steve’s loss. I first met Steve through BOSL where we became fast friends & then co captains for over 15 years. Steve was positive & to the point, both as a friend & co captain. Our team was also very social as was evident by our QB refunds for year end! Cheryl as our team score keeper enjoyed teasing Steve & discussing strategies for improvement. After we finished playing baseball we remained strong friends through our early retirements. Karin & Cheryl were part of a BOSL wives book club for many years. Karin & Steve are among our closest friends to date & we have enjoyed a lot of wonderful times together. So sad we are in the UK and won’t be able attend the funeral Thursday to say goodbye to a great friend. Lloyd Lunan

I first met Steve when I joined the BOSL many years ago. During that time Steve was a teammate as well was an opposing player on another competing team. It was during these times that Steve and I became friends our wives also became friends. Steve and Karin were both very supportive when I lost my wife and that support continued when I introduced Eva to our circle of friends. They were very welcoming very kind and our friendship went beyond the BOSL. Steve joined me on a few golf trips where I got to know him even better we also had Toronto Maple Leafs vs MTL hockey game trips and trips to New York City within our circle of friends. These will be a memory that will be fondly remembered. Steve and Karin were a big part of my annual Canada Day Street party in which there is a cornhole tournament which I know Steve had one on at least one or two occasions. As the annual tournament pitted couple against couple and as Eva and Karin were not able to play in the spirit of the tournament and the day Steve gladly took on the part of the female partner (attached picture will confirm) and we were a team. I am very glad that I was able to call Steve a friend and that he could return the gesture and call me his friend. I will fondly hold the memories of the numerous fun times we had. It is very sad that the opportunity to create more memories with him ended so abruptly. He will be sadly missed. Steve rest in peace. Mark Flood

“We were very saddened to hear of Steve’s passing. It was a shock, as Cynthia and I had enjoyed talking with him at a Canada Day party not long ago. I met Steve over 20 years ago in the Burlington Oldtimers Slo-Pitch League and we often crossed paths at gatherings through a mutual friend. He was always warm, friendly, and easy to talk to. He will be missed, and my heartfelt condolences go to Karin and family... Alan & Cynthia Iskiw”
