Obituary of Kenneth John Hoar

Kenneth John Hoar, aka…. Kenny, Dad, Grampa, Uncle, Brother-in-Law and Husband has left us with both broken hearts and with gratitude for a life well lived. Ken passed away on November 1, 2025, in his 91st year. Ken was born on February 2, 1935, in Portsmouth, England and although immigrating to Canada as a young lad, English ways remained a big part of his personality. He loved fish and chips, roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, the Queen, and malt vinegar on everything! His sense of humor was dry, and he loved joking around with people. But what Ken loved the most, was his wife, his sons, his family, his friends, travelling and finding a bargain.

Ken worked hard and he and his wife Diann (nee Boyko), married for 63 years provided a great life for their boys Brad and Steve. Their home on Cochrane Rd. was a welcoming hub for family and friends. Ken spent hours in his garage fixing garage sale finds for resale. His garage was always full of great finds and he was always first to help anyone needing a hand.

Ken worked for 33 years at Brewers Retail (The Beer Store) as a Driver. He loved his job and was good at it. He earned awards for continuous accident-free driving and even saved people from a fire while out on delivery. He retired in 1995.

Left to carry on and remember Ken is his wife Diann, sons Brad (Bev) and Steve (Jane). grandchildren: Amber, Alysha (Chris), Ashley and Evan. Brother-in-law Ron (Dianne); nieces and nephews: Janet (Peter), Michael (Rose), Sandra, Ann (Bob), David (Marlene), Ryan (Bre), Alana (Chris), Michael (Janene), Robin (Amy) along with many great-nieces and nephews.

We take solace that Ken is now re-united with his parents Harry and Ellen, sister Peggy and brother Norman along with all family members and friends that passed before him. We give thanks for the positive impact he made in our lives. Ken was loved and respected by his family and friends and we are grateful for his life well lived.

Per Ken’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Condolences, stories and photos can be shared with Ken’s family online via Donald V. Brown Funeral Home (www.donaldvbrown.ca)

A Celebration of Life will be held in Ken’s honor on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 12 noon – 4 p.m. at The Innsville Restaurant, 1143 Hwy #8, Stoney Creek, Ontario. Family, Friends and neighbours are very welcome to attend.
