Obituary of Mary Ann Jazvac

With deep love and immense sorrow, we announce the loss of our amazing mother, who died in her home October 17, 2025.  Mary Ann was such an extraordinary human being, full of vibrancy and life, and creative and brilliant beyond measure.  So loving, she curated for us extremely happy childhoods, and inspired us to reach far, unselfishly encouraging us to pursue our passions and go where the world called.

Mary Ann rose elegantly above all hardships with grit and humour.  She went through life with enthusiasm and energy, from smoking a cigar at the lake in Bobcaygeon, to the way she decked out her home with art and uplifting wonders, to her kindness to people from all walks of life.   As her dear friend Christine said, everything she did was about making other people happy.

Mary Ann was an exciting and creative grandmother, deeply loved by her three grandchildren, Edwin, Charles and Clare. Beloved sister of Jane Leach, predeceased by her loving parents Joseph and Mary Ilecic.

Her career was teaching and she was passionate about lifting the lives of marginalized and under-resourced students, while pursuing a lifelong love of learning herself. Mary Ann continued her post graduate studies after retirement.

A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at 11 a.m, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 600 Spring Gardens Road, Burlington, Section 25 (or meet at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m., departing at 10 a.m.).  Friends will also be received Wednesday, October 29 at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, 3:45 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., with remembrances in the early evening.  Luncheon in her honour Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Her preferred charity is Médecins Sans Frontières "Doctors Without Borders".
