Obituary of Antonio Luis Tavares
It is with great sadness that the family of Antonio Luis Tavares, announce his passing at the Juravinski Hospital on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, in his 68th year.
Antonio Luis was born in Sao Miguel, Azores and along with his parents and siblings, moved to Canada at the age of 19. He married his wife Melinda in 1979, and together they raised their three children, Suzanne, Teresa, and Stephen in Hamilton, Ontario. He is the beloved grandfather to Lauren, Kate, Marcel, Melinda, Maria, Meredith, Riley, and Owen.
Antonio Luis was a hardworking member of the Labourers Union for fifty years. He was a dedicated provider for his family and is well known for his strong work ethic and moral principles. He was a gardening enthusiast, and took pride in his yearly production of tomatoes, which he enjoyed sharing with his family, neighbours, and friends. He had a love for the game of hockey and was a knowledgeable and unwavering fan to The Toronto Maple Leafs. Antonio Luis was a cheerful, sociable, warm-hearted and kind person. He will truly be missed and will remain forever in our hearts.
Visitation will be held at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Friday, October 17th from 4-8 p.m with Vigil prayers at 4 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Luke’s Church, 200 Mt. Albion Rd, Hamilton, on Saturday, October 18th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery, 681 Mud Street East, Stoney Creek.
