Obituary of Hazel Louise Seibel (nee Moses)

Hazel Louise Seibel (nee Moses), beloved wife of the late Willam Seibel for 53 years, peacefully departed for heaven at the age of 97 at Creek Way Village in Burlington, Ontario. The family is grateful to the staff of Creek Way Village for care provided to Hazel in her final years.

Hazel was born March 22, 1928, in Medicine Hat, Alberta to Howard and Elsie  Moses. Hazel completed high school at Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, Alberta. She married William Seibel October 7,1950 at the Moose Jaw Alliance Church in Saskatchewan. Both Hazel and William grew up during the depression from humble beginnings, as part of the “Greatest Generation”. They were well acquainted with hard work, sacrifice and long suffering. Their values made life so much better for their family. They decided to settle in the industrial heartland of Canada, Hamilton, Ontario, where there were plenty of educational and employment opportunities for a growing family.

Hazel worked in several secretarial roles including CIBC, CPR, and Studebaker. The family was involved in local church activities for many years, including youth clubs and summer camp life. A favourite place to vacation was the beautiful Glen Rocks on Lake Rosseau.

The family returned to Saskatchewan and Alberta several times over the years to visit relatives and participate in harvests.  The family also enjoyed RV trips in Ontario and the southern USA, and especially the 1967 Expo World Fair in Montreal.

Hazel was predeceased by her loving husband William Seibel, parents Howard and Elsie Moses, sister Alice Ratzlaff, brother Owen Moses, and daughter-in-law Sherry Seibel.

Hazel is survived by her sister Ethel Farthing of Alberta, and children: Gary Seibel, Ken Seibel, Susan (Al) Pluim, Shirley (Gino) Puzzuoli, nine grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., October 18, 2025, at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, Ontario. Funeral Service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery, 700 Spring Gardens Rd Burlington, Ontario.

“And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself

restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.” – 1 Peter 5:10 NIV
