Obituary of Bernadette Lucille Stanfl (née Hickerson)

Passed away peacefully at home in Hamilton on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at the age of 76.

Bernadette was predeceased by her beloved husband Steve; her parents, Wesley and Alice; and her siblings Nora Hickerson, Margaret Petrie, Thomas Hickerson, and Jessie Timmins. She will be deeply missed by her sister Nancy Lafleur, as well as by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Bernie dedicated 40 years of service to The Hamilton Spectator, where she cherished her work and formed many lasting friendships. In retirement, she enjoyed playing cards and bingo, and spending time at the casino, where she was warmly surrounded by friends.

Cremation has taken place.
