Obituary of Evelyn J. Hough (Hodgson)
May 26, 1937 - August 30, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Evelyn Jean Hough on August 30, 2025 in her 89th year. Evelyn passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family.
She was predeceased by her loving Husband of over 61 years, John H. Hough (2022). Proud Mom of 'her girls' Brenda Hough Brendon and Diane Hough McEvoy. She considered her Sons-in-law David Brendon and Don McEvoy 'her boys'. Adored Grandma to Evan McEvoy (Alannah), Kerala Brendon, Tosh McEvoy (Caroline) and GG to Liam McEvoy.
Born in Hamilton to Harvey and Lottie (Baker) Hodgson, Evelyn is predeceased by siblings Victor and Muriel. She will be greatly missed by her brother Harold. Evelyn and John raised their family in their home in Stoney Creek for 61 years. Together they owned and operated The Print Shop.
We are all grateful to Diane for the gift of her kidney to Mom 23 years ago .
Evelyn’s main focus was always her family. She looked forward to every family interaction no matter how big or small. She enjoyed crafts, sweets, shopping, spoiling her grandchildren and listening to David sing and play the piano.
She will be lovingly remembered for her quick wit, quirky humour, “bionic” hearing and how being silly was always a “good thing”.
A private family Interment will take place at White Chapel.
