My condolences to Petrella family on the passing of dear Lori. Lori and I crossed paths various times while working at today’s family. She was a natural empathetic, early childhood educator, who was always eager to help. On a personal note she always checked in with me to see how I was doing emotionally and physically regarding some health issues I was dealing with. We constantly chatted about our boys. Lori, you will be missed.

Lori was an incredible woman and friend. We met a little over two years ago working for Today’s Family in similar roles. She was the kind of educator you looked forward to seeing come in when someone else was off. She was a natural with kids, fantastic at her job and always enjoyable to be around. We got to work together closely for a period of time and became great friends. She loved to shoot the shit, she kept it real, and she could find the good in everyone she came across. We loved to laugh and gossip every time we got together. Lori found the humour in everything. She was a truly special human who could get along with anyone. She loved her boys; she would tell anyone who would listen about them, show pictures of them and beam with pride as she remarked that they were the loves of her life. Of all the roles she played, being their mom was her favourite one.
She will be deeply missed and her absence greatly felt. Thank you for being such a great friend Lori. Every time I drink an ice tea I will think of you. Xo

I had the absolute privilege to work with Lori during her time with us at today’s family. Lori was a passionate Early childhood educator, She touched the hearts of so many children and families, working at so many Childcare centres within our Todays family community.
Not only that Lori was a coworker, a friend and for many of us, a person who felt like family. You could always count on Lori to be there, not just physically, but emotionally.
She was the one who’d check in when she knew you were having a hard day.
The one who’d offer a hand, a hug, or some honest advice, even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear, but somehow, it was always exactly what you needed.
She loved her family more than anything in this world. Anyone who spent five minutes around Lori knew that. Her devotion to running her household by taking care her mom, as well as her “baby boys” who mind you are full grown adults- her face would light up every time she talked about them. You didn’t just hear her love for them, you felt it. They were her everything.
At the Todays Family Lori was magic. Every child adored her. Every parent trusted her. Every coworker relied on her. She had a passion for early childhood education that went well beyond teaching, she connected with those little ones in a way that can’t be taught. It was natural, it was genuine it was Lori.
She had this amazing ability to get along with everyone. Whether you were 18 or 80, Lori made you feel like you belonged. She loved to laugh with the younger crowd, always joking that she was “too old for this,” and yet somehow, she was always fitting right in.
She listened without judgment. She gave without hesitation. And she loved — so deeply, and fiercely.
Losing Lori so suddenly feels impossible. It’s hard to picture the work place without her voice, her laughter, her spirit. But I know that in the small things -in the way we care for the children, in the advice we give each other, in those moments we pause to be kind -she’s still here. Her love is woven into everything we do.
We were lucky to know her.
We were blessed to work alongside her.
And we will never, ever forget her.
Rest easy, Lori. Thank you for being a part of our Todays family community and our Saltfleet family
