Obituary of Nedeljka "Neda" Asanovic

(née Gambiroza)

Peacefully passed away at Juravinski Hospital on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, in her 90th year. Beloved wife of the late Drago (1993). Cherished mother of Bosko (Nada), Milorad “Mizzy” (Slavka), Krste (Ayako), and Milena (Milos). Devoted Baba to her grandchildren Jelena, Nenad (Bojana), Danica, Vesna (Vladimir), Luka (Danielle), Krste (Mary), Taiki Drago, and proud great-grandmother to Mariah, Henry, and Adelaide. Neda was predeceased by her siblings Milan, Jovo (Todora), Luka (Marija), and Djuro (Mara). She will be deeply missed by her extended family, Kumovi, and many dear friends across the globe.

A woman of unwavering faith and community spirit, Neda was a founding member of the St. Ilija Serbian Orthodox Church and Memorial Hall, and a long-standing member of the Serbian Chetnik Kolo Sestara in Corby, England. After emigrating to Canada, she continued her dedication as a member of St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Cathedral and the Serbian Chetnik Kolo Sestara in Hamilton.

Friends will be received at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Sunday, September 28, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with Pomen at 7:30 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, 153 Nash Road, Hamilton on Monday, September 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., officiated by the Very Reverend Father Djuro Samac. Interment to follow at Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vojvoda Momcilo Djuic Fund, in honour of Neda’s lifelong dedication to her heritage and community.
