Obituary of Maria Buono

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maria Camerotto Vanzella Buono on Friday, September 12, 2025 at the age of 93. Beloved wife of the late Anthony Buono and daughter to the late Celestina Spagnol and Giovanni Camerotto.

Maria was a dear Mother to John (Carol) Vanzella, Vivian Vanzella, Valerie (Mike) Turco, and Julia (David) Fedak. Cherished Nonna to nine grandchildren whom she adored, Stephen (Jenn), Daniel, Sarah, Vanessa, Luke, Hunter, Scott, Ethan, Marcello (Mackenzie), and bisnonna to four great-grandchildren.  She leaves behind a sister, Agnese, and two nieces, Giovanna and Mariangela, along with so many wonderful cousins, nephews and nieces in Italy.

Social and spirited, Maria thrived in the company of others, especially her family. Maria took great pleasure in family gatherings, particularly the games we played together. She especially loved playing cards--and her competitive spirit, sharp mind, and joyful laughter made every game night memorable.

Maria was a Resident of Ridgeview Nursing Home for the past year. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff for their compassionate care and commitment in taking good care of dear Maria.

Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Sunday, September 14, 2025, from 4-8 p.m. Cremation to follow. A private family burial service will follow at a later date.
