Obituary of Grace Schieber (Amyotte)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Grace Schieber (Amyotte), who left us peacefully surrounded by love on Saturday, August 23, 2025.
Grace was the beloved wife of the late Horst Schieber (2012), with whom she shared nearly 45 years of marriage. Together they raised two children, Una (Mario Mule) and Tia (predeceased). Grace was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother, taking immense pride in her family, especially her grandchildren Selina, Joshua, and Olivia, who brought her endless joy.
In 2017, Grace found love again with Walter Anders, with whom she shared 8 cherished years. Though their time together was too short, their wonderful years filled with travel, laughter, and new experiences were a blessing. Grace was warmly embraced by Walter’s children: Jane (Gerard), Katherine (Ian), Karen (Doug), and Walter Jr. (Sarah) and their families.
Grace was predeceased by her parents, Emma Racette and Rene Amyotte, and by siblings John, Rose, Betty, Vera, Lillian, and Bobby. Left to celebrate her life are her brothers Walter and Morris, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss her deeply.
Grace lived a full and engaged life. She was a longtime member of the Germania Club and Fischer & Jäger, an active participant in the Stoney Creek Quilters Guild, and enjoyed many friendships through these communities. She was also a retired employee of Canada Post, where her dedication and work ethic were well respected.
She will be remembered for her warmth, resilience, artistic passion, and the way she made every gathering brighter with her presence. Grace had a kind heart, and an unwavering devotion to those she loved.
Family and friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Monday, October 6, 2025 from 11 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 1 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow to honour Grace’s memory.
Grace will also be remembered in Saskatchewan with a service at the family homestead on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 1 p.m., where some of her ashes will be laid to rest. A reception will follow, bringing family and friends together to share memories and honour her life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or Bereaved Families of Ontario – South Central Region.
