Obituary of Jack Sheldon Walker
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Jack Sheldon Walker on June 19, 2025 in his 94th year. Beloved husband of Dorothy with whom he shared 73 wonderful years. Cherished father of the late Glenn (Lynn) and Brent (Jan). Loving grandfather to Matthew (Katie) and Meredith (Ryan), Gordon, Joanne (Travis) and Andy (Megan). Great-grandfather to Jaxon, Aubrey, Chance and Tyler.
Predeceased by his parents George and Lillian Walker, brothers Ted (Barb) and Barry (Marsha), sisters Gladys (Albert), Grace (Bob) and Lillian (John). Jack will be fondly remembered by his surviving brothers, Earl (Sandra), and Grant (Jan) and many nieces and nephews.
Jack was a long-term employee of Stelco, working his way up from a tool & die maker to an office in the Stelco Tower as a master trainer specializing in supervisory and managerial leadership skills. He later taught management training classes at McMaster University.
Dad was the president of the Skyway Dog Obedience Club as well as co-founder and president of the Stoney Creek Redcoats camping club. An avid camper and traveler, he would regularly sing and play guitar around the campfire. He had a keen interest in the old West and travelled to many historic locations. Dad was an active member of the Stoney Creek Baptist Church and organized committees to maintain and improve the building. As newlyweds, Dad & Mom built their own home. Dad laid the blocks while Mom mixed the mortar. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t do.
Born and raised in Hamilton on Paling Avenue, in his younger years Dad ran track, played football and basketball. His love of basketball led to a passionate following of the Toronto Raptors. He loved to talk about the games even though he struggled to pronounce many of the names. Most of all, Dad enjoyed spending time with his family. His hard work and love provided for the wonderful life which we enjoy today. Family meant everything to Dad. We will miss his wisdom and his guidance.
A special thank you to his long-time caregiver Dianne Hewer with whom he had developed a strong and lasting friendship. He loved spending time with you.
We will miss you Dad and love you forever. xoxo
