Obituary of Ronald Joseph MacEachern

After a brief illness at Hamilton General Hospital on Saturday, June 14, 2025, Ronald passed away at the age of 89 peacefully surrounded by his family. Ron was born on February 10, 1936, in Inverness, Cape Breton and was raised on a farm in rural Judique in a Gaelic speaking household. Ron returned annually to Cape Breton, a place he held very dear to his Heart.

Ron was the beloved husband of Danita (MacIntyre) and Father of Scott, Ronita, Dana (Steve) and Randy (Jen). Devoted Poppa of Emilie, Kaitlyn and Ryan. Also survived by many Nieces, Nephews and extended Family in Ontario, Nova Scotia and Michigan. Ron was predeceased by parents John Hughie and Mary Ann (Gillis). Ron was also predeceased by siblings Hughie John, Malcolm, Christine and Marguerite. Cherished Brother-in-law of Linden MacIntyre (Carol Off) and Rosalind Rankin (the late Donald).

Ron left home at an early age to work in the Hard Rock Mines of Northern Ontario and Newfoundland finally settling in Hamilton in early 60’s. Ron was a 34-year employee of Westinghouse Canada retiring in 1998. During his time at Westinghouse, Ron was a proud Union member of the UE and CAW holding various positions within the Local fighting for Workers Rights. He will be missed by his friends at Tim Hortons, Fiesta Mall. Ron was a passionate Tiger Cats and Blue Jays fan rarely missing a game. Ron loved to walk and meet people along the way, he always saw a friend in everyone he met. Our heartfelt gratitude to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff on 4 West Cardiac and Vascular Unit at the Hamilton General Hospital for their care and compassion.

Friends will be received at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Parish, 304 Highway 8, Stoney Creek on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.  Interment to follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
